Divine Providence

I was visiting my family this past weekend. My father and I had the chance to catch some of "John Adams" on HBO. If you haven't seen it, do yourself a great favor and start to watch it. It was tremendous.

The thing that kept coming back to me was the United States was TRULY blessed by God. Clearly, we should not have succeeded to form an independent nation as we did in the 1780s. All signs pointed to total and complete failure. But with some amazing men who gave everything they had for the 'cause' of Liberty, we are still standing today.

Clearly, Divine Providence has blessed this nation and I hope still does. There are still great men and GREAT women who hold the values of the Revolution in great regard.

The other great value of the show was to provide insight into the relationship John Adams had with his wife. She was his greatest friend and more than that his confidant and advisor.

I wish our educational system spent more time on really brining our Founders to life and explain just how much they put on the line for all us. We were lucky then as we are today to have those willing to sacrifice.

It makes the words "God Bless America" mean so much more than just another phrase.

We've been watching Deadwood around here. Hajji-movies sell for a couple bucks a piece. I may try and look for Adams.

Hey, Bill... Like Pat, thanks for telling me about the movie. I will also be looking into it. Also, thanks for your commentary on the Pope's visit. I regret to say that I missed most of it since my demanding 3yr old requires "her shows" all day long. But I was with the Pope in spirit, for sure.

Also, thanks for linking mine and Pat's blogs to yours... cool.
